Our History
Over 60 Years In The Castlegar CommunityHow it Started
In the past, we held many spring rummage sales at the Kinnaird Hall to raise money for health care in our community.
The members began to plan how we could raise money for Health Care without having these rummage sales. Trudy and Tommy Biln offered the basement which was located in Pharmasave in downtown Castlegar and we opened our Treasure Shop in 1992. The Auxiliary operated there for 14 years and in 2006, the members voted to build the existing H.A.T.S. (Hospital Auxiliary Treasure Shop) location, which we opened in 2007.
We have in-store ongoing weekly sales of clothing, bedding and other items every month so please feel free to stop by and check what is on sale.
Where we’re at now
Now, we have in place a Financial/Planning/Building Committee which planned and completed the second stage of the Hospital Auxiliary Treasure Shop (H.A.T.S.) location in 2014. Since the opening of the Treasure Shop’s second floor we’ve been able to accept more donations all types of goods and have a lot more selection of items for people to purchase at our location.
We have many special sales, events, silent auctions and bag sales throughout the year so please check our News Blog as to when these sales are coming up. We also post the sales on Shaw TV and in the Castlegar News.
