Castlegar Hospital Auxiliary Society
About UsA Simple Idea For Healthcare
The Castlegar & District Hospital Auxiliary Society was formed in the latter part of 1956 and became a member of the British Columbia Association of Healthcare Auxiliaries in 1957. In the past we were known as the “Ladies Auxiliary” and are still referred to as such.
The Auxiliary has several male members, some who are husbands of the wives who are members. These male members help with the repairs, cleanup, storage and packing seasonal suitcases off site. We could not operate without their help. Thank you Guys!
Our volunteers fund raise in the community by operating a thrift store known as the Hospital Auxiliary Treasure Shop.
Our Partner In Our Efforts
The Castlegar & District Hospital Auxiliary Society also supports the “Light Up Campaign” which is held yearly on the first Friday of December, put on by the Castlegar & District Hospital Foundation (CDHF). The Auxiliary donates through the CDHF to help pay for the costs of equipment that is needed for the Castlegar and District Community Health Centre to be used in the Emergency Room, the Testing Lab and/or X-ray Departments. The Auxiliary also donates to Talarico Place for continuing patient comfort and care. The Auxiliary supports the CDHF efforts in fundraising and in return the Foundation appreciates the support it receives from the Auxiliary.
To date, the Castlegar & District Hospital Auxiliary Society has donated approximately $806,955.20 to the Castlegar Community for Healthcare.
We encourage younger members to join us. You are our future and we need to keep moving forward in order to keep quality health care in our community.
